Final thoughts...final week...wow!

I cannot believe this term flew by this fast! I wish there was still a few more weeks left, for I know I have so much more left to learn. I do, however, have my books to help guide me, along with the writing center. My knowledge and understanding of so many writing techniques, etc has improved way beyond that I had imagined. I am way satisfied with how my final paper ended, and I loved all the new information I had gathered from it! Sleep deprivation is so common throughout the world, and many of us do not even know we are sleep deprived. I think it is fascinating (because it fits me oh so well haha) that you may lose an hour or two every night (so not the full 8 hrs of sleep) and do not think anything of it, but in the long run, after about two weeks, all that hour or two of loss sleep each night gathers up and hits ya hard. It is crazy because I know I experience this all the time. One of the things I still need help with, is the APA format! Ugh...such an ugly ugly thing haha. I have had rather fun in this class, though due to my son being sick off and on (especially when he had pneumonia) and then me being sick, I had missed quite a few classes and had to do the option 2. I wish I could have attended class more often than not. I wish everyone luck with the rest of the school year and hope I see many of you next term!!! :-)

boy oh boy!

Wow! Almost done with this course. Time sure has flown by. I am not quite done with my final paper, for I have had one crazy hectic month! Just got home from the ER. My son ended up having a fight with a corner of a bookshelf thingy..and well he didn't win. The doctors did not want to stitch him, for they felt gluing it would be faster. So he got it glued. Nasty deep cut above his left eye. Reminds me of like a UFC fight haha. Anyway, he is all better and was such a trooper! :-) Now, back to the final paper, I am almost done and I just have to add that I am overly exhausted. I am relieved though that we are almost done LOL. This term has been the hardest for me, since I have been in and out of the ER with my son, moving, me being sick, just a mess of things! Hopefully it all settles out by this weekend so I can hurry hurry hurry to my paper! :-) Have a good week everyone! It is 120am here and I am going to pass out!! Night :-)

Lack of comments...

Evening everyone!
How do I feel about the comments, or I should say lack of, from my posts? Well, I really was expecting more, but what I do have is good! I like reading what others have to say. This almost reminds me of facebook actually lol. Since there is a lack of comments, and I am not sure if anyone is really reading anything I write, I may not continue with the blog after this course. Then again, I might due to the fact it is kind of like a journal, just a little more public and who knows, maybe more people will actually have something to say. I know my posts are not the greatest, but it is always nice to see what others have to say. :-) I am not feeling too good, so I am going to bed! Hope ya all have a fun and safe weekend!!

Peer Reviews...love them or hate them?

Morning everyone!
Actually it is afternoon. Man, I have been a busy bee moving all week and boy am I exhausted! I am also getting ready to go on vacation to Missouri and to Wisconsin. I am way excited to see some friends I grew up with in California. You know, there are many people out there who pretend they want to hear what someone else has to say about their writing, but when it comes down to it, they get either mad or upset with the response they had recieved. I absolutely love peer reviews! Having others read over what I write and help me make it sound more understandable, is awesome! I love hearing what others have to say, not just with what I write, but amongst other peers as well. You always see something in a different way than everyone else. So to get anothers perspective on a topic, and on your writing is helpful and much appreciated by most. I really do appreciate what others have to say. It helps broaden my own ideas into something new. I always look forward to reading what others have to say :-) I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! I will see you all in class this week. Have a good day!

How many of us are sleep deprived?

Afternoon everyone!
These past six weeks, I feel like I have been dealing with so much. My son had pneumonia, so we were in and out of the ER a couple times. Now he just has a cough and sore throat. I got some congestion and now an earache. I feel like it is just a big circle of sickness haha. Besides taking care of my sick boy, I have tried to not miss work and/or school. Keeping up with school became a hassle for me and I had to just put it aside till recently. All I could think about is taking care of my sick child. Other than that, I am in the process of moving my girl friend from Missouri out here to Oregon. Going to fly out there and make it a road trip back :-)
I had such a lack of sleep the whole time my son, Jayden, was sick. Plus even now with me feeling icky, I am still not getting enough sleep. Many people do not realize how quickly losing an hour here and an hour there will catch up to you. It surely caught up quick with me! I cannot wait till I get to just relax and catch up on much needed sleep. I have really enjoyed reading up on sleep deprivation and am excited for my paper! Hope ya all have a good weekend! Be safe.

Academic Challenges...

What is academically challenging for me? It is hard understanding information given to you when you can barely understand what your professor is talking about (accent as to say). Luckily me, that has only been with one professor. It is very challenging, to try to focus on school, especially this past week, when your child is sick. My 15 month old son has had pnuemonia for a little over a week now and has caused my grades to fall. I will put my sons health before my school, especially when dealing with pnuemonia. It all started out with a fever of 103, and found out a little later on that he had pnuemonia in his lower left lung. All I can really do is be there for my son and give him his meds, and put school aside. He is doing so much better! His fever has gone away, but still has pnuemonia. I am thinking it will be all gone in less than a week! We have a follow up for Friday morning. That has been my biggest challenge with school. Besides those two things (sons health and professor accents) I would say APA is in my top three for challenges. I am understanding it a little more, but still have problems with it and am afraid of messing it up and being accused of plagiarism! I cannot be happier to finally be in school! I will make a great life for my son and I :)

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is taking the ideas of someone else's and not properly citing them. It can also be taking your own work from a previous class, which I never knew about. We need to properly cite our sources to give credit to those who deserve it. Stealing others ideas can result in suspension and being fired from work. I would be fairly upset if another person had used my ideas and not gave me credit for it. An example could be a quote you had come up with and mentioned it to a friend. That friend then tells another person, but gave themself the credit for it. This quote finally gets around and you were never credited for it. It is just like a research paper, you need to cite the source you had recieved the information from. I am still trying to understand the APA format, but will do my best to properly cite the information. Anyone that tries to take another person's ideas and translate them into their own and not properly cite it, should be punished for it! Whether it be suspension or terminated. Obviously they should be warned first because they may not have realized what they did wrong!!

My feelings towards being an online student :)

Hello everyone!
Hope you all are doing well this afternoon! Being an online student is more helpful to me rather than going to a campus. I love the fact that I can work on my school work, or attend classes while playing with my son and still taking care of him. I couldn't imagine me going to a campus, my mind would be on my son and wondering if he was doing alright. I would miss him like crazy! Also what I really appreciate is the fact that if I happen to miss a class, I can go back and listen to the whole seminar! Can you do that at a campus? As far as I know, you can't. I do know that you can take your child to a daycare at the campus (well the ones here you can). That is a benefit, but like I said, I enjoy being able to take care of and play with him while I am doing school. The fact that it is not just people in the same state that are in the online community, it is a variety. For example, some of my peers are on the other side of the states, and some are just a few miles from me. I find that exciting! Fill me in everyone! I would love to know how others feel about online schooling! Have a good week :)

Hey everyone! Today was such a beautiful day here in northern oregon :) My son and I ended up taking a nice walk to the bank and then to a store (overall an hour there and then an hour to get back). There were a few times where cars were not careful driving by us, especially since there was no sidewalk for us. It frightens me that some drivers do not even slow down or move over a little bit when there is a child walking!!! Also, I had the right away to cross the street, and I started to do so, and then a truck came to the stop sign but didn't even bother looking or stopping! Other than those few stupid drivers, we enjoyed our walk! He loves feeling the bushes, the flowers and the grass when we walk by any of those. It is so adorable! He thinks it is funny too. Haha. Hopefully this week stays nice so we go for more walks! :)
