Plagiarism

Plagiarism is taking the ideas of someone else's and not properly citing them. It can also be taking your own work from a previous class, which I never knew about. We need to properly cite our sources to give credit to those who deserve it. Stealing others ideas can result in suspension and being fired from work. I would be fairly upset if another person had used my ideas and not gave me credit for it. An example could be a quote you had come up with and mentioned it to a friend. That friend then tells another person, but gave themself the credit for it. This quote finally gets around and you were never credited for it. It is just like a research paper, you need to cite the source you had recieved the information from. I am still trying to understand the APA format, but will do my best to properly cite the information. Anyone that tries to take another person's ideas and translate them into their own and not properly cite it, should be punished for it! Whether it be suspension or terminated. Obviously they should be warned first because they may not have realized what they did wrong!!
